The SZOPKA (shop-kah) is the Krakowian Creche. These elaborate creations of tin paper are entered into competition each year on the square of Mariacki St. Mary's Cathedral in Krakow.
The largest collection of past exhibits can be found in the Ethnographic Museum of Krakow in the Kazimierz district. This Christmas display piece is 10" tall, 7" wide and 2 deep. It is made of aluminum and is in used condition. The display is very delicate and the flags at the top have been bent. I did not try to bend them back for fear of breaking them off.A beautiful one of a kind Christmas piece made in 1987.
